'TDN Rising Star' Mutasaabeq (Into Mischief) tries his hoof at turf and a spot in the gate for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf in Sunday's GII Bourbon S. at Keeneland. An ultra-impressive debut winner sprinting on the Saratoga main track Aug. 8, the Shadwell runner checked in third in the GI Hopeful S. next out there Sept. 7. In addition to trying turf for the first time here, the Todd Pletcher pupil navigates two turns for the first time as well.
Wesley Ward can never be counted out and he saddles Into the Sunrise (Into Mischief) in this test. A non-factor when unveiled on the main track at Gulfstream June 20, the bay earned his diploma when switched to the lawn at Ellis July 17 and missed by a neck to next-out GI Summer S. victor Gretzky the Great (Nyquist) in Woodbine's grassy Soaring Free S. Aug. 23. Ward also sends out Blame the Booze (Blame), who has yet to test the sod. Opening his account with a win in the mud in an off-the-turf test at Belmont July 10, the gelding was a close second in a rained-off renewal of the With Anticipation S. in the slop at Saratoga Sept. 2.
Indy Tourist (Tourist) was off the board in his Churchill debut sprinting on the lawn June 5, but dominated by 15 3/4 lengths next out going a mile on grass at Indiana July 20. He enters off a third behind the re-opposing Barrister Tom (Artie Schiller) in the More Than Ready Juvenile S. at Kentucky Downs Sept. 7.
